Jete Ballet and Dance Summer Intensive is a unique opportunity for dancers to focus on technique, training, and artistry. The program offers quality teachers are dedicated to the learning process and growth of each individual student. Class size will be limited. The Jete Summer Intensive focuses on developing well-rounded dancers!


Curriculum:


Students take a minimum of 6 hours of dance per day, consisting of daily technique and pointe, followed by the supplemental classes listed above. In addition, dancers will have rehearsals on occasional evenings for a final performance showcase.

5 days per week, 1 pm class with Miss Terry- Once Upon a Time

3 days per week, 3 pm class with Mr. Charles -Once Upon A Time

2 days per week, 5 pm class with Ms. Walczak at Ripley- Grier Studios in Manhattan

3 days per week, 5 Pm class with Jete teacher hip hop, tap and or jazz technique – Jete Dance Center


Transportation:

The School bus has a Department of Transportation Driver from Jete' to Queens Studio and then to Manhattan. Monday through Friday. 11:30 AM Pick Up at Jete daily Monday through Friday. Dancers are welcome to stay at Jete for early drop off for parents at work.

Dates:

Summer sessions are two (2), three (3) week sessions.

Session 1: July 12th-July 30th

Session 2: August 7th - August 25th


Cost:

Summer intensive $530 per week with transportation.

$430 with providing your own transportation.

Deposit of $100 per dancer due April 3, 2017 via check or paypal.

Ms. Theresa Aubel , Artistic Director of Once Upon a Time and Jete Ballet Summer Intensives


Ms. Teresa Cassese Aubel::

Hailed as the ballet whisperer and having trained principal ballerina at Miami Ballet among others. Ms Aubel graduated from High School of Performing Arts and School of American Ballet went on to receive a BA in dance at PACE University and Master's degree and NYS teaching certificate in performing arts and dance. She has toured and performed in numerous ballets and taught around the world and is the new ballet mistress at Jete' Dance


Ms. Barbara Walczak : Ballet Mistress:

A native New Yorker, she studied with Phyllis Marmein at the Y, and with Pierre Vladimiroff, Anatole Oboukhoff, Felia Doubrovska and George Balanchine at SAB. Ms.Walczak was a charter member of Ballet Society in 1946 and its successor New York City Ballet in 1948. Ms. Walczak was a valued soloist, creating roles in more than fifteen ballets created by Balanchine and her colleagues at NYCB, Todd Bolender, Lew Christensen, etc. "Agon", considered the signature Balanchine ballet featured her in the stunning "Sarabande" section in its startling debut. As a much-in-demand dancer, she was featured in both the Eglevsky Ballet and Ballets Alicia Alonso on a tour of Central and South America.

As a teacher, she has been on the faculties of the Neubert Ballet, her own Ballet Academy of Lincoln Square, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey, Philadanco, Capitol Ballet and Once Upon A Time Inc.

Her book, "Balanchine- The Teacher" University Press of Florida, 2008, is widely regarded as the seminal work exploring the first generation of NYCB dancers. She is currently working on project encompassing the classes of her teachers' at SAB.


Mr. Charles: Ballet Master::

Charles Grant Chambers: Mr. Charles is a native of Ontario. He was a premier danseur of Ottawa Ballet and in the early days of television. was featured dancer on CBS shows. Mr. Chambers came to the United States and studied at American Ballet Theater and was often cast at ABT by Guy Lombardo and partnered with prima ballerina Mia Slavenska. Featured on Broadway starred with Ginger Rogers in " Calamity Jane", Gale Storm and Lucille Ball as well as recurring roles television.
